Pre School
In Pre School, we provide high quality care and education for up to 40 children aged between 3.5 and 5 years.
Whilst continuing to explore the environment, children develop self-help skills and independence which will enable them to participate fully when they go to ‘big school’. Our children learn to problem solve and are encouraged to seek help and guidance from their peers and staff when needed. Whilst at Pre School, children are supported in a calm and respectful manner, teaching them to interact with one another in the same way.
We understand that child-initiated play is a very important part of learning. We focus on what children can do and allow plenty of opportunities for children to develop their thinking skills. Staff are role models and believe that childhood is more than just prepping the children for adulthood.
At Pre School, we learn through daily tasks and activities. We create a homely and familiar environment, with routine and repetition. Our children get involved in pouring their own drinks and washing their own plates, growing their basic skills and they love feeling independent.
Our children participate in messy activities, investigating and learning through play, both indoors and outside in the Pre School garden and around the school campus. Our children love to collect leaves in the autumn, splash in the puddles when it is wet, or to look for the Gruffalo on the school field.
